Muscatine Schools is hiring a Head Delivery Driver for the District's Food Service Department. Delivery Drivers are assigned to work 9-months/year while school is in session. This position is scheduled for 7.5 hrs/day, Monday through Friday, with an approximate schedule of 6:00am - 1:30pm. Starting pay for this position is $16.76/hour.

MUSCATINE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

                                         JOB REQUIREMENTS ANALYSIS

 

POSITION TITLE:              Head Delivery

EMPLOYEE UNIT:             Food Service              

REPORTS TO:                     Food Service Supervisor

STATUS:                               9-month position

 

Normal Work Day Begins:   Varies by position

 

OBJECTIVE: Deliver food from freezer and storage areas to production centers. Deliver all hot and cold foods from production centers to satellite centers. This position may include collecting soiled trays/dishes and returning them to production centers as well as collecting monies and making deposits every school day.

 

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Drives food service van to 11 sites on the route, picking up and delivering food items and supplies; 10 public schools, warehouse/operation freezer, technology/transportation center and Saints Mary and Mathias.
  • Maintains standards of sanitation and safety in the pickup and delivery of food, including wearing clean clothes, hairnet or hat on head and form of hairnet over facial hair (if applicable).
  • Maintains good driving habits and exercises extra caution when driving around school buildings where children are present.
  • Fills the van with gas as needed and checks the oil as required by the supervisor of Transportation.
  • Keeps the van clean, both inside and out.
  • Inspects equipment periodically, recommending needed repairs.
  • Must communicate effectively and coordinate deliveries with all managers and the food and nutrition supervisor.
  • Maintains good public relations with students, parents, faculty and the community.
  • Other duties of a similar nature to be assigned as needed.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The individual in this position shall possess competence in the above stated areas of responsibility. Must hold valid driver’s license. The van driver shall maintain a satisfactory driving record.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • This position requires that the employee be extremely customer service oriented and organized
  • Must genuinely like working with and around children, grades PreK-12
  • Proper handling techniques of food being transported and stored
  • Ability to organize daily loads on truck
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people
  • Must be able to remain flexible to changing needs
  • Safe handling of Food Service/District vehicles and other equipment
  • Dependability and reliability are essential

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and hear.  The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and forward 0 to 24 inches and on occasion up to 36 inches.  The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp items.  The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet, such as furniture, cases of food and paper, and boxes.  The employee will also carry heavy, bulky equipment up and down stairs.  The employee will

push/pull items such as tables and carts.  Specific vision to operate a food service van or delivery truck.
